Messenger Automation: User Comments on Facebook Posts
This guide explains how to set up the Facebook comments trigger in your Messenger automation. It helps you automatically respond to users who comment on your Facebook posts. This is useful for answering common questions, sharing offers, or starting private conversations with people who engage with your content.
Once this automation is set up, your system can reply publicly to comments and send private messages in Messenger without manual effort.

In the Flow Builder, select Messenger
Choose User comments on your post from the trigger options.
Step 3: Choose the Post
You can configure the trigger for:
- Any post on your Facebook page, or
- A specific post that you select
Step 4: Add Keywords (Optional)
You can set the automation to trigger:
- Only when the comment contains certain keywords
- Or you can leave both options blank to trigger it on all comments
Step 5: Respond to set up Public Reply in the feed
You can choose to respond with random multiple replies, add buttons, images and text. You can also skip it to proceed. Click “Save” and proceed to the Flow Builder.
Add reply options to send it randomly as a comment reply such as
- You asked, we delivered – check your Messenger
- Got your comment! Slide into your inbox now
- Appreciate the comment! We’ve sent you a message with more details.
Also, add a message with images, text, or button options, which will be sent on private DMs.
Set Live when the automation steps are completed.
Limitations and Troubleshooting
Supported Posts and Comments
- This trigger works only with original posts on your business page
- It does not support:
- Event, Offer, or Job posts
- Shared content from other pages
- Posts in groups or on personal profiles
Page and Comment Restrictions
- The trigger works only for comments made by personal profiles
- It will not respond to comments made by Facebook pages
- If your page has age or country restrictions, the trigger may not work. Remove these to fix the issue.
Testing and API Limits
- Facebook only allows one test per user
- After receiving the auto-response once, further test comments from the same user will not trigger again
Compatibility Rules for Multiple Triggers
- If two triggers have no keywords, the oldest one will trigger
- If a trigger with keywords exists, it takes priority over newer no-keyword triggers
- If two triggers use the same keyword, the one matching the comment will be triggered
- If you set one trigger for all posts and another for a specific post, the one for the specific post will take priority
